Serious result for all women's movement in republic it is that fact, that from four women - deputies of the State Council of the republic, two of them are authoritative public leaders and head of women's nongovernmental organizations. They are director of UNDP management centre for women Olga Savastjanova and chairman of Committee of soldier's mothers - Lyudmila Zavjalova.

In 1999 in the structure of area administration the committee on affairs of women, families and youth has been created.

Referring to the data of the international organizations chairman of the Commission on Human Rights at the President of the Russian Federation informed, that annually only up to 50 thousand women and girls export from Russia, CIS and Central Europe to USA. Them force to be engaged in prostitution, force to slave labour. Totally, according to various international experts, "annually from 700 thousand up to 4 million men, women and children are bought, sold, kept as slaves all over the world".

There are about 40 women's NGOs in Voronezh, engaged in various social problems. All of them concern in destiny of own city, future of children.

Already one week children's "telephone hotline" works in Arkhangelsk. It was created by the student of faculty of social work of Northern State medical University, Eugeny Izhmjakov.

"Maya" is created in Petrozavodsk for protection of victims of slave-trade. Its head Elena Merzova considers what to underestimate value of the problem it is impossible. Near to us - Finland where in the crisis centers the telephone "lines of trust" in Russian language are already created: so many our compatriots address for the help there.

Competition is carried out in three nominations: "Equal rights and equal opportunities", "The best illumination of the theme of family, paternity and motherhood" and "World of childhood". Deadline for reception of materials is January, 30, 2004. Summarizing of competition and ceremony of rewarding of winners will take place in the first decade in March, 2004.

The administration of area regularly develops the measures directed on improvement of women's position. With this purpose regional programs are realized: "Healthy mother - healthy child", "Children of Novgorod area", "Social support of poor population" and others...
