Useful links concerning World Summit on Information Society (WSIS), which has taken place in December, 2003 in Geneva

On December, 6-7 women's social organization "Coalition for gender equality in Latvia" has carried out seminar "Networking news North, East, West, South " in Urmala. The seminar has been organized within the framework of the project "Building capacity of Baltic Women' s information сentres cooperation" under support of Council of Ministers of Northern countries.

In November, 2003 has started project "Gender strategy of sustainable development of Ukraine (analytical research)". The purpose of the project are assistance to introduction of gender equality, increasing of gender culture and gender consciousness as conceptual strategy of strengthening of human potential of sustainable development of Ukraine by definition of such gender strategy which will be socially significant for economic growth, improvement of a condition of an environment and health of the nation, increase of well-being of the population, development of a civil society.

Acting in headquarters of the United Nations in New York at the traditional press conference devoted to results of year, the General secretary of United Nations Kofi Annan has called, that 2004 year became "year of performance of promises". He also has called to stir to activity, directed on improvement of position of women and struggle against corruption.
