Model legislation has been developed to surmount the imperfection of the present criminal and civil legislation and/or to improve existing laws about domestic violence. It is developed for legislative bodies and organizations supporting the adoption of gender specific and comprehensive legislation in the sphere of domestic violence.
States - participants of the present Convention according to the principles proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations consider that recognition of dignity, equal and integral rights of all members of the society - are the basis for securing of freedom, justice and peace on Earth.
