Special Invitation to the end violence network
Violence Against Women Symposium 2002
May 13 - 14, 2002 ~ Vancouver, British Columbia
Coast Plaza Stanley Park Hotel
Celebrate, Renew, Focus on the Future
May 12, 2002 will mark the 20th anniversary of the tabling of “Report on Violence in the Family: Wife Battering” in the Canadian House of Commons. Ten years prior, the first sexual assault centres, transition houses and women’s centres were established in Canada. These accomplishments were achieved through the dedication, hard work and vision of women and men working in their communities to keep women safe.
This Symposium provides an opportunity to engage in a forum for critical discourse that will provide participants with new knowledge, innovative ideas, and inspiration to embrace the work that lies ahead. The Symposium will be relevant to participants from community agencies, government, justice systems, hospitals and educational institutions. Participants will include women who have experienced violence, front-line workers, advocates, supervisors, policy makers, and trainers from the fields of justice, health and social services.
